On Your Mark ... Get Set ... Go!!!

FCA is off to the races in Central Florida!

Each year in the US, over 5 million kids play sports for their middle school and high school teams. FCA has always been there to support those coaches and athletes, and will continue to serve them. But a growing number are playing sports in clubs, and at earlier ages.

 How do we reach them?

Over 40 million youth participate annually in club and recreational sports!

Central Florida FCA Track Club is a ministry with a vision to reach kids outside the campus, and at earlier ages. It is also has a goal to ultimately involve the Four “C”’s of FCA’s ministry: Coaches, Campus, Camps and Community.

Why Track & Field?

  • A sport for every"body": We are all created differently, and T&F offers an event for every body type, boy or girl. There's running (sprints, mid distance and distance); jumping (long jump, high jump) and throwing (shot, discus, javelin). All club athletes train in each area for their overall development.
  • A lifelong sport: We can run, jump and throw at very early ages and running is a sport that can be continued until late in life.
  • Prepares us for other sports: Many of the skills developed in T&F transfer to skills that aid us in most other sports...speed, power, mobility.
  • Prepares us for life: T&F can teach valuable life lessons in areas like dedication, perseverance and teamwork and promote healthy habits.
  • Costs: T&F is a relatively inexpensive sport with low costs in equipment and training.
  • Injuries: Most T&F injuries are not severe or season and sports career threatening.
  • Personal Record: Every T&F athlete can set their own "PR", and measure their individual progress instead of comparing themselves to others as a definition of success.

Weather Policy

Practices are generally held rain or shine unless there is a major weather event. We have a covered area to meet until storms pass and a lightning detector to avoid associated risks. There are many things we can do while in the sheltered area, so come on out. In the event of severe weather, website updates will be posted on the day of practice up until one hour before start time.

*Does my child need to have track experience? Absolutely not! We will train every athlete no matter what their experience or talent level. Track & Field is a sport that every athlete can find their best event and improve on their own performances.

*Which events will my child be learning? Track & Field includes running, jumping and throwing. Our primary focus in those areas will be on sprints and middle distance, long jump, and shot put. Every athlete will learn every event as part of their overall development, and to let them have fun learning something new. We will also have javelin, triple jump and other events in our "Event Expert" clinics.

*Can someone join at any time? Our practices and training are structured so your athlete can join in at any time during the season. All new members are taught our warm up routines and measured for their individual club PR (Personal Record) in several events. This provides a standard for setting goals and measuring progress. After that, they will begin the FUNdamentals training in Speed/Mobility, Strength/Flexibility, and Mechanics.

*What if they have to miss some practices? We understand that there will always be conflicts, and have built our program around the premise that "life happens". So, we look forward to seeing everyone when they can make it, and will train them up while they're there!

*Who can volunteer to help? Our volunteers include current and former athletes at every level from HS to adult, parents and other adults in the community.  Our HS volunteers can earn community service hours while having lots of fun! Track experience is not required to help out! Volunteers register under the "Support" tab.

*Do you have to be a Christian to join the club? EVERYONE is welcome to join us! FCA is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, so we are faith-based and will be sharing that faith as part of our club.
